Through the "Improving Literacy" grant, our library has been able to make many exciting purchases to improve our patrons' experience.
Many new books of all styles and reading levels have been purchased. The variety of books including, Graphic Novels, Fiction, and Non-Fiction, will interest everyone from the most reluctant readers to the most avid ones!
The complete Bill Nye the Science Guy set was also bought. That's 100 volumes of our favorite science guy to educate students.
The library now owns 15 Sony Digital Readers (similar to the Amazon Kindle). Each Digital reader is able to store hundreds of books, magazines, and articles. The library will purchase many titles and magazine and newspaper subscriptions for the digtal readers. Students and staff will be able to visit the library and read from the Sony Digital Readers. The digital readers will also be available for classroom use.
The Reference and Non-Fiction Collection have been updated. Over $3,000.00 of new material has been purchased to improve and update the sources for research and information
Another technological purchase will surely excite students and staff. Twenty Macintosh laptops are now in the library's possession. The Macs are useful for the student's research, papers, and other school work. Students love to use them too!
With the help of this grant, the Copenhagen Library is truely becoming "a library with no limits"!
